01 / Overview

Overview

The short version: WatchVault is a privacy-first app. Your watch collection data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we have no servers that store your personal collection information.

This Privacy Policy explains how CryNet ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the WatchVault iOS application ("the App") and the WatchVault website at crynet.co.uk/watchvault ("the Website"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the App or Website you agree to the practices described here.

02 / Data Collected

Data We Collect

WatchVault is designed so that your collection data never leaves your control. Here is a complete list of what the App stores and where:

On your device / in your iCloud account (not on our servers):

On our servers:

Nothing. CryNet operates no servers that store your personal information. The App collects no analytics, no crash reports sent to us, and no usage telemetry.

03 / How We Use Your Data

How We Use Your Data

Your in-app collection data is used exclusively by the App on your device to provide the features you use. We have no access to it.

Because we operate no servers and collect no personal information, there is no data for us to analyse, share, or sell. If you choose to email us directly, we use your message only to respond to your enquiry, and we will never use your email address for marketing or share it with third parties.

04 / iCloud & CloudKit

iCloud & CloudKit

WatchVault uses Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your collection across your own Apple devices. This means your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, which is governed by Apple's iCloud Terms and Privacy Policy, and not on any CryNet server.

CryNet has no ability to access, read, or retrieve your iCloud-synced data. Apple's privacy policy applies to data stored in iCloud: apple.com/legal/privacy

iCloud sync is optional. If you prefer to keep data local-only, you can disable iCloud Drive for WatchVault in your device Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud.

Images are compressed to a maximum of 1024px and stored as JPEG at 75% quality before being saved to CloudKit, in order to stay within CloudKit record size limits and reduce iCloud storage usage.

05 / In-App Purchases

In-App Purchases

WatchVault offers optional tip jar in-app purchases ("Support Development") via Apple's StoreKit 2 framework. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. CryNet does not receive, store, or process any payment card details or financial information. Apple's payment privacy policy applies.

06 / Notifications

Notifications

WatchVault may send you local notifications (generated on your device, not sent from our servers) for:

These notifications are scheduled and fired entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to CryNet. You can disable notifications at any time in the App (More → Notifications) or in your device Settings.

07 / Biometric Authentication

Biometric Authentication

If you enable the optional Face ID or Touch ID lock, WatchVault uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric data (face geometry, fingerprint) is stored and processed entirely by iOS and is never accessible to WatchVault or CryNet. The App only receives a boolean success or failure result from the system.

08 / Third-Party Services

Third-Party Services

WatchVault uses the following Apple-provided frameworks, all subject to Apple's privacy policy:

WatchVault contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, and no social media integrations.

09 / Your Rights

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:

For your in-app collection data, you have complete control: use the built-in Backup & Export feature, the Clear All Data option, or simply delete the app. To exercise any of the rights above, contact dev@crynet.co.uk.

10 / Data Retention

Data Retention

Your in-app collection data is retained for as long as you use the App. Deleting the App removes local data. To remove iCloud data, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → WatchVault, or use the Clear All Data function within the App before deletion.

11 / Children

Children

WatchVault is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

12 / Changes to this Policy

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App or Website after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
